Chenoweth, an Oklahoma native, graduated from OCU with a bachelor's degree in music, 1990 and a master's in opera performance, 1992.
While receiving the degree, she was all praise for the university, for providing her the right combination of training and expertise in the world of music.
Chenoweth is a recipient of the Tony Award, 1999, for her performance as Sally Brown in 'You're A Good Man, Charlie Brown' and an Emmy Award for her role as Olive Snook on the ABC television drama 'Pushing Daises', 2009.
In the past five years, Chenoweth has released several albums, including 'A Lovely Way to Spend Christmas', 2008 and 'Some Lessons Learned', 2011.
Apart from her award-winning performances, she is also widely remembered as Glinda in the musical 'Wicked', 'The Apple Tree', and 'Promises, Promises', and in the television series as 'Annabeth Schott' in the 'The West Wing' and in GCB series, last year.
Chenoweth played a lead role in her own TV series 'Kristin' 2001, and gave guest appearances in shows such as 'Sesame Street' and 'Glee,' for which she was nominated for Emmy awards, 2010 and 2011.
She also essayed character roles in films including 'Bewitched', 'The Pink Panther', and 'RV', and rendered her voice for animated films and the animated TV series 'Sit Down, Shut Up.'
Apart from Chenoweth, Chesapeake Energy's senior vice president of human and corporate resources Martha Burger; former editor of The Oklahoman, and The Washington Times Ed Kelley received an honorary doctorate of humane letters, while Oklahoma State University President Burns Hargis was conferred with an Honorary Doctor of Laws at the commencement ceremony.
