Terrell Owens: No calls from teams, but two might fit

Terrell Owens: No calls from teams, but two might fit, Is Holding On To His NFL Dream? Terrell Owens, who was last seen in the NFL wearing a Cincinnati Bengals jersey during the 2010 season, has not given up on making his return to the NFL, although teams have shown little to no interest in the wide receiver. That, however, has not swayed the Owens. During an interview with the NFL Network earlier today, Owens went as far to mentions teams he is interested in pursuing, even though he hasn’t received any calls from the two teams in question. The strategy he is apparently using is “If they don’t come to you, go to them.” As for the teams in question, he discussed two that are, in fact, somewhat lacking in the wide receiver department:

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Minnesota Vikings. For fans of these teams who either panicked, or, got really excited, remember to temper your expectations/disappointment levels accordingly. I reiterate, no team has contacted him as of the interview.

According to Owens, “I know I can still play the game and it’s a matter of somebody just giving me the opportunity to go out there and play.” When discussing why he has been out of the NFL for the since the end of the 2010 season, the wide receiver cites politics, but admits his previous behavior also plays a part:

“I think a lot of it has to do with my reputation, things that I’ve done earlier in my career, but I’m a changed person. I’m a little bit more mature than I was in years past… I can’t go back and change the past, I can only move forward,” he said. “If someone can be open-minded and be able to move forward with me, we can be on the same page and be on board.”

Whatever the case, while Owens was indeed productive during his last stint in the NFL–72 catches, 938 yards, 9 touchdowns, which wouldn’t look too bad with Kansas City’s Dwayne Bowe lining up on the other side of the field–the fact remains, he is on the outside looking in. He also stated he believed his prospects would improve when teams begin to consider signing veteran free agents, sometime after training camp begins (and injuries start to occur).

Considering the lack of phone calls during the previous seasons, one of which was saw Owens play indoor football, perhaps not.
